The success stories page for eZine Trades & Business School is empty at launch. It says so, clearly, at the top. Underneath it lists — in nine steps — what a story has to clear before it appears there. Milestone-triggered request. Identity verification. Written release. Five required fields. Supporting evidence. Named reviewer sign-off. Staff approval. Learner-feedback vs. verified-outcome labelling. Consent withdrawal.
The obvious alternative was to ship twelve stories at launch. A few AI-generated headshots, a handful of plausible names, plausible amounts, plausible arcs. It would have looked more finished. It would also have been a lie.
Why the empty state isn't a weakness.
Every prospective learner reading this page is making a judgement about whether a school they've never heard of can be trusted with money and attention. An empty success stories page is a test we run on ourselves. If we're willing to leave it empty rather than fill it with fabricated content, that tells you something about the other decisions this school will make.
The alternative — twelve invented stories — would have told you something different. Not just that we're willing to fabricate the stories, but that the other decisions the school makes will follow the same logic. The pricing might quietly test what people will pay. The AI mentor might make up a citation when it doesn't know. The certificate might use "accredited" without checking. Each of those small dishonesties has the same shape as an invented testimonial. If one is on the table, they're all on the table.
What the empty page becomes.
Eventually it fills up. When a learner clears the first Business Progress Record milestone that qualifies as a real outcome, the system prompts them to consider sharing. If they say yes, the nine-step workflow starts. If a story emerges, it lands with the person's name (or an agreed anonymous handle), the challenge, the programme used, the actions taken, the result, the time period, and the evidence we reviewed. Featured stories are held to the same evidence bar as ordinary ones — we don't have a hype tier.
Until that first story lands, the page stays empty. It stays empty next week, next month, and however long it takes. That's the entire discipline. If you're on the page today looking for social proof, this note is the closest we can honestly get to it: we chose the empty page over the invented one, and we're telling you why.
