This Privacy Policy explains how AI Tutor (operator of Ezine; "Ezine," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Ezine adaptive learning platform at ezinelearning.com and related applications (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
01 Who we are
Ezine is an AI-assisted adaptive learning platform. It helps students and certification seekers learn through an AI tutor and structured curricula, and it lets parents set up and oversee learning for their children.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, please reach out through our Contact Us page.
02 Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and identity information. When you register, we collect your email address and a password (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see your plaintext password).
- Learner profiles. To personalize lessons, we collect learner names and may collect a chosen learning level, country/education system, subject or certification track, and similar preferences. For family plans, a parent may provide the names and learning details of children they add to the account.
- Family and account-structure information. For family plans, we store the relationships between a parent/guardian account and the child learner accounts it manages, along with seat assignments and any parental control settings you configure (such as time limits).
- Payment information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider. We receive limited billing details such as your subscription status, plan, and transaction confirmations. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or feedback, we keep a record of that correspondence.
Information generated through your use of the Service
- Learning activity and progress. We record lesson and curriculum progress, mastery status, completion of segments, diagnostic and test results, and weekly learning summaries.
- Tutor interactions. Your questions, answers, and exchanges with the AI tutor are processed to deliver the tutoring experience.
- Diagnostic and assessment data. Responses to and scores from diagnostics and tests, including per-topic results used to build a readiness or weakness picture.
- Technical and usage data. Basic telemetry such as device and browser type, approximate access times, feature usage, and error logs used to keep the Service working and secure.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and operate core features. These are necessary for the Service to function. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may break parts of the Service.
03 How we use information
We use information to create and maintain your account and family/learner profiles; deliver, personalize, and improve lessons, curricula, diagnostics, and the AI tutor; generate progress tracking, weekly learning reports, and readiness summaries; enforce parental controls and plan limits you configure; process subscriptions and payments; provide support; monitor, secure, and improve the Service; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
We process this information because it is necessary to provide the Service you request, to pursue our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service, to comply with the law, and — where required — based on consent, including parental consent for children.
04 AI processing
The AI tutor and content-generation features are powered by third-party large language model services. To deliver these features, relevant context — such as your tutoring questions, the lesson or curriculum topic, the learner's first name (used to personalize tutoring), and assessment context — is sent to those services to generate responses. Spoken tutor voices are produced using a third-party text-to-speech service that processes the text to be spoken in order to return synthesized audio.
We send these providers only what is needed to deliver the feature, and we do not authorize them to use your information to train their models except as permitted under our agreements with them. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into the tutor that is not necessary for learning.
06 Children's privacy
Ezine is designed to be used by children only through a family plan that is set up and controlled by a parent or legal guardian.
- Parental setup and consent. A parent or guardian creates and manages each child learner profile. By adding a child to a family plan and providing the child's information, the parent or guardian represents that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and consents to our collection and use of that child's information as described in this policy.
- What we collect about children. For child learners we collect the information needed to provide learning: the learner's name, learning level and subject/track, lesson and curriculum progress, tutor interactions, and diagnostic/assessment results. We limit collection to what is reasonably necessary for the educational service.
- Parental controls and rights. Parents and guardians can review their child's information, control settings such as time limits, and request that we correct or delete their child's information. To exercise these rights, reach us through our Contact Us page or use the in-app parent dashboard.
- No targeted advertising to children. We do not use children's information to serve behavioral or targeted advertising, and we do not sell children's information.
- Supervised registration. Accounts for children must be created and supervised by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental involvement, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
07 Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You can request deletion of your account and associated data as described below.
08 Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your account and personal information;
- export a copy of certain information;
- object to or restrict certain processing; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, including parental consent for a child.
To exercise any of these rights, reach us through our Contact Us page. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and allow parents and guardians to exercise these rights on behalf of their child learners.
09 Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security in our database. Payment data is handled by our payment processor under its own security standards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10 International users and data transfers
Ezine is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers.
11 Third-party links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services we do not control. This policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice or email). Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
